Event description
A series of 4 online puppet making and play workshops for children with Autism or Aspergers and their families on May 5,12,19& 26th 4 - 5pm

About this event

Over four weekly sessions on zoom this is an opportunity for children with Autism or Aspergers to create a simple puppet (with parental assistance where necessary) and to enjoy discovering its character and story through further making, play and interaction. Most suitable for 6 - 12 year olds, siblings are also welcome where appropriate. The workshop will have a maximum of three families attending and you will be asked to assemble the materials for it, most of which you should have available at home or be able to purchase locally. Each session will last approx an hour.

Facilitator, Niamh Lawlor, is director of Púca Puppets since 1997. She is a creator member of Helium Arts In Health’s Pop Up Picnic team performing for young children with complex needs since 2016. She was Artist in Residence in Ballyowen Meadows and St Augustine’s Special Schools for Dun Laoghaire Rathdown’s Primary Arts programme. She was awarded an Arts Council Bursary Award for Wonder Puppets, which has also been assisted by a Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council Creative Ireland and Cruinniú na nÓg commission.

On booking, to assist the design and delivery of the workshop you will be asked to fill in an information form. If you require further info please email marymarycallingearth@gmail.com
