Event description
Workplace Wellness Ireland is a network for professionals working to promote health and wellness in Irish workplaces.

About this Event

The Workplace Wellness Ireland community is for those working directly in workplace wellness in Ireland, senior leaders and HR professionals tasked with wellness promotion in their organisations and anyone that is passionate about making their workplace a healthier place to be.

We're excited to bring our first Workplace Wellness Ireland event to Galway at the wonderful PorterShed on October 23rd in partnership with our sponsors Spectrum.Life and AJ Products.

As it's our first Galway event the theme will be introductory. We are going to discuss "Where to start when it comes to Workplace Wellness". I'm delighted to welcome three distinguished panelists who will each share their perspectives and experiences.

Places are limited so please only register if you are sure you will make it. Take a look at the video highlights from our most recent Dublin events in March and May for an idea of what to expect.

Galway - October 23rd 2019: Line Up

Sheila Greaney: Site Engagement Manager, Cisco Systems Galway

A born-and-bred Galway woman, Sheila has had a lengthy career working in the engineering space. Her role as site engagement lead for Cisco Systems Galway is all about the 'people experience' and ensuring that all that work there are happy, content, productive and most of all maintain a healthy work/life balance where giving back to society is seen as equally important and is celebrated as much as their contributions in work itself. She has worked hard on many aspects of the Cisco Culture, and helped enormously to get Cisco Ireland to Number 1 in the Great Place to work for 2016 and staying in the top 3 position since then is something she is very proud of. Cisco globally is now well known for its amazing 'giving back' culture. Sheila takes pride in running the CSR team at the Galway office. The site has raised over €25K a year on average for the last 12 years for local charities from a working population of less than 200 people. One of her most recent projects was setting up an on-site gym for the site, turning what was once an unused data-centre into a daily used space for anyone and everyone on site to exercise and improve their overall fitness and wellbeing. It has given everyone a huge added benefit of being able to work out at their convenience. Sheila is an extremely passionate creatively thinking person and ensuring people are happy and enjoy coming to the office is something she takes very seriously.

Carrie Budds: Workplace Wellness consultant, Quokka Wellness

Carrie is a qualified and experienced workplace wellness consultant. She has a background as a Health & Wellness professional combined with 10+ years experience working in the IT sector. She is passionate about helping employees to stay happy, healthy and productive in our digital age. Quokka's are believed to be the happiest animals in the world, and that is the vision for Carrie and Quokka Wellness. Carrie helps companies to maximise the productivity and engagement of their talent, while improving retention and reducing stress-related absenteeism. She does this by providing workshops and training programs empowering employees to control their digital environments.

Breann McGarry: HR Manager, ICE Group

Breann hails from Canada, joining the team at ICE Group in 2011. Her journey at ICE Group now sees her as the HR Manager. After completing a BA in Canada she travelled to the Emerald Isle and took up residence in 2005. She has since been CIPD Accredited with the National College of Ireland. She believes there is no longer a work/life balance, there is “Life” and the “balance” is an everlasting journey. The 4 Day Week Launch at ICE Group has bettered the balance in all aspects of her life. Breann is married with three beautiful children under five so every three day weekend allows for more time to play. Breann believes Gratitude is the key to a good day, and will often sing without request as life is a concert!

Workplace Wellness Ireland Values

1. Share without expecting anything in return

2. Have fun and respect everyone

3. Make friends, not contacts

As well as the wonderful speakers, the event will be a fantastic opportunity to meet new people that are passionate about wellness in Irish workplaces. There will be a chance to share experiences, to ask questions and to brainstorm future ideas. With this in mind please arrive early to allow plenty of time for chatting and making new friends on the evening.

It won't be possible to answer every single question at the event but don't worry. You can join the Workplace Wellness Ireland group on LinkedIn so you can engage and interact with the community there as well as staying updated on this event and our future meet ups.

The importance of investing in the health of our workforce is slowly being understood. I believe that by working together we can build on the momentum and share this message with many more people while at the same time improving the quality of the services that we offer.

Thanks to our partners Spectrum.Life and AJ Products for supporting the nationwide growth of the community.
