Workshop / Guest Class with acclaimed Irish performance artist Amanda Coogan.
Open to all. Limited places. €10 plus booking fee.
Amanda Coogan is one of the most exciting contemporary Visual Artists practicing in the arena of Performance Art. Her 2015 exhibition in the Dublin's Royal Hibernian Academy was described by Artforum as 'performance art at its best'. Her works encompass a multitude of media; Objects, Text, Moving and Still Image but all circulate around her live performances. Her expertise lies in her ability to condense an idea to its very essence and communicate it through her body. Coogan completed her doctoral thesis on live durational performance art in 2013 at the University of Ulster.
Workshop: Join Amanda for a workshop that will explore perception through the artist's body. Wear weather appropriate & comfortable clothing. Be prepared to work outdoors and site specifically and be ready to explore together.
Please bring 1 small mirror and 1 water glass to use in the workshop.
Event Location
The event will take place in NT2 lower ground floor of the Arts Block Newman Building. Please see map for directions within the campus and from N11 bus stop. When you come in the main entrance of the Newman Building you will see a stairs on your left hand side and the Arts café on your right. If you go down the stairs, the room is directly on your left (the room is marked above the entrance). There is also access to the lift. From the main entrance of Newman there is a stair case through double doors on your right, further on from Arts cafe. The lift is through the double doors and will take you to the lower ground floor.
Transport
The following buses stop outside UCD campus on the N11 flyover:

The following buses will leave you to the bus terminus on UCD campus:
77x, 27x, 32x, 66x, 67x, 39a, 17, 25x, 41x, 51x
Taxi
If you are arriving by taxi the usual drop off point is AIB bank on campus.
Parking
Parking is at a premium on the Belfield Campus with only very limited visitor parking available. If you happen to find a parking bay where no payment is required DO NOT PARK as you will be clamped! There are also only very limited places available for people with disabilities.
Coffee shops
There are coffee shops open within the Newman Building on the Friday 20th. On Saturday 21st there is a Starbucks coffee shop open until 2pm. Starbucks is located in the Restaurant Building beside Newman, marked on the map provided.
