Event description

Description

Craig Benton - works for the EPA supported programme called Stop Food Waste

Sundara O'Higgins- is a minimal waste activist

Approximately 1.3 billion tonnes of food is wasted globally each year. Ireland creates over 1 million tonnes of food waste annually, which costs the country €2-3 billion each year. On a household level, Irish families are throwing away 700 Euros of food each year, or about one in three to four bags of perfectly good food we purchase at the store end up in the rubbish bin.

As part of The Hopsack's Minimal Waste Project we aim to educate our customers and our staff on how we can create less waste. Small changes create a big impact!

During this event Craig and Sundara will:

- inform us of the impact food waste has on our environment and on global warming

- teach us how to plan, shop, store, prepare, cook and reuse food more efficiently

This will not only help save our precious planet but also help you save money!

All profit will go towards the Irish based non-profit charity VOICE
