The Zero Waste Challenge doesn’t have to be daunting or overwhelming. Living sustainably needs be sustainable for you too. Learn how simple,

About this event

Zero waste can feel daunting, unachievable, and overwhelming, a mountain you will never be able to climb! Well, we want to make it simpler, attainable and achievable. We’ve created a zero-waste challenge that covers the entire year, your zero-waste calendar. The purpose is to break big sustainability goals down into smaller sustainable steps that bring you closer to living a more considered life without feeling overwhelmed.

The challenge will cover how to access your ecological footprint, buy less, travel slowly, reduce food waste, change your habits, be an eco-enthusiast, make sustainable swaps, save energy, reduce single use plastics and avoidable waste. This challenge is all about making zero waste more attainable and flexible. Living sustainably needs to not only be about what's best for the planet but what's most sustainable for us too, and hopefully this zero-waste challenge makes that possible. This event is taking place live from Dublin, Ireland. Please calculate the time difference if joining from elsewhere. This event is free to Iconic Community Members and non-members.

About the Host: With Zoe Hertelendi, Founder of Edamame Eco. Zoe worked in the fashion industry for over 13 years (Ted Baker) where she managed 150 people in the retail side of the business and opened numerous stores across Singapore, Ireland and Northern Ireland, France and Germany. After witnessing first-hand, the greenwashing in the fashion industry, Zoe decided to leave and educate herself further at the Cambridge University for Sustainable Leadership in order to make positive changes better for the planet. In 2015, Zoe and her husband opened a restaurant called Platform 61 in Dublin City Centre. It was the first sustainable restaurant focusing on not only locally sourced ingredients but also eliminating single use plastic from its operations.

They were the first ones to ban plastic straws and take away coffee cups back in 2016. Platform 61’s success also comes from working together and promoting the local community through quirky events and collaborations with the local businesses, such as Roal Dahl themed brunch, Food porn with Yelp, Aungier Danger brunch, Vegan dinner and Vegan gluten free afternoon tea with Wild sage bakery and many more. As sourcing of sustainable products for the restaurant became a business in itself, it was only natural that Edamame Eco was born through this, focusing on further promoting reusability, zero waste, circular economy and sustainability in everything they do.

Edamame Eco now specialises in corporate merchandise and gifting market and is on a mission to disrupt and fix the dirty traditional promotional products industry. All these traditional promotional merchandises are generally made from plastic, and is rarely recycled. Edamame Eco believe that companies that give away responsible products, long-lasting "gifts with a meaning" send a different message about their brand. If you believe in a sustainable future, value longevity and usefulness as well as brand loyalty and awareness, you naturally start to consider gifts worth giving.
