Team Amy Smith
Amy Smith grew up in Dover and now resides in New Philadelphia. She has worked for WJER Radio since 1996, and now also at WTUZ Radio. In September 2025, Amy was diagnosed with an aggressive cancerous melanoma tumor and is undergoing treatment at Cleveland Clinic's Taussig Cancer Center. This requires 2-4 trips to Cleveland each month, along with missed work, medical bills, and supportive purchases like prescriptions and supplements. Through the years Amy has given back to the community in countless ways such as the WJER Toy Drive, animal rescue, serving on boards of directors for the Red Cross, the Miss Clayland Scholarship, the Tuscarawas County YMCA and Tuscarawas County Senior Center. It doesn't matter who you are, cancer is expensive, stressful, and scary. We want to help lighten this burden by showing Amy our support through donations, a gathering of dogs, and the people who want to show her support and love. Most of all, Amy wishes for this event to bring awareness to the danger of sun exposure, and the importance of skincare and routine dermatology screenings.
