Ballyhaunis Abbey Trust is the formal entity which holds a 999 year lease on St. Mary's Abbey. The Trust is made up of 10 trustees, 4 from the community, 4 from Mayo County Council and 2 nominees of the Augustinian Order.

The day to day administration of the property is carried out by the Abbey Partnership which is made up of community bodies. The Abbey Partnership has sought to maintain and develop the overall Augustinian property, ensuring that it remains an invaluable social amenity for the people and families of Ballyhaunis and surrounding areas.
