The Bernal Institute represents a €100+ million investment that builds on significant strengths in applied sciences and engineering. The Institute’s strengths include internationally leading research in crystallisation, crystal engineering, composite structures, process engineering, and an emerging field of Biomaterials Research. The Institute has utilised its research expertise to lead large, inter-institutional research centres in pharmaceutical materials, pharmaceutical processing, composite materials and dairy processing.  The Bernal Institute has also invested €50 million in world-class characterisation, modelling and manufacturing equipment as well as composites and pharmaceutical manufacturing infrastructures, making the facilities internationally competitive.
