I.NY | Ireland & New York...One Story at a Time

Ireland and New York are synonymous with each other – the shared history, the ever-continuing exchange, the shaping of respective identities and the impact of each place on the other. Of the 34.5million people in North America who claim Irish heritage, it is New York State that the largest number of them call home. Anchored in cultural programming, the festival celebrates the history and modernity of the relationship through music, literature, film, theatre, exhibitions, presentations, street-art and the Annie Moore talks series. The festival also explores the breadth and depth of the connection between Ireland and New York through widened programming highlighting historical and contemporary stories of public service, sport, politics, fashion, food, religion, crime and more.

I.NY is an international cultural project that celebrates and brings to life this shared story. The broader project includes year-round digital story exchange, collaborations and residencies, and cross-Atlantic initiatives in art, education and enterprise.

In 2018 I.NY presents a programme of events for the Global Irish Festival Series, Limerick that explores and celebrates this deep and vibrant connection between Ireland and New York City. Artists, writers, musicians, educators, economists and entrepreneurs have been invited to Limerick City to tell the story of how the Ireland New York relationship has impacted their personal, professional and creative lives. We also invite an audience, from home and abroad, to hear thes stories and to share their own. One story at a time.

The 2018 I.NY Global Irish Festival Series takes place at a number of venues across Limerick City, Ireland from Oct 07 - 14 2018.
