Irish Community Action on Alcohol Network & The Institute of Public Health
ICAAN was formed early in 2017 as a national network to support the continued development of community action on alcohol in Ireland and to facilitate collective working on reducing alcohol harm. The Network was formed with support from the National Community Action on Alcohol Programme which was developed as a three way partnership involving the Alcohol Forum, the HSE and the Drugs Policy Unit in the Department of Health. Since the programme was initiated as a pilot in 2015, it has continued to expand, with community action on alcohol sites now established in 20 communities throughout Ireland.
The Institute of Public Health in Ireland (IPH) promotes cooperation for public health between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland by strengthening public health intelligence; building public health capacity; policy and programme development and evaluation
