Kanell Harvard
Kanell J. Harvard is a Mid-Hudson Valley based event planner, who is committed to providing Christian oriented outings and entertainment. He holds a Bachelors of Arts in Theology from The Mid-Hudson Bible Institute. Through his event planning company, Dhat’s A Trip, Kanell has coordinated poetry slams, weddings, family reunions and New York City tours for over a decade, as well as artistically directing plays and fashion shows. He is known throughout the Valley for his family friendly Soul Circus, Broadway trips and International Family and Friends Day. Kanell’s annual Essence Music Festival trip is in its fifteenth year of production. Although he is dedicated to his spiritual walk, In 2016 he launched his first Gospel concert for diabetes awareness with Vickie Winans. Along with a Christian comedy show for autism awareness. Kanell has fashioned a reputation of excellence that anyone who has attended his affairs will readily tell you. Additionally, Kanell’s mentor and volunteer experiences include but not limited to a voter registration drive held in October 2020, Kanell collaborated with the local chapter members of Kappa Alpha Psi, Delta Sigma Theta, Zeta Phi Beta, Poughkeepsie residents, leaders and organizations to organize the voter registration drive throughout the city of Poughkeepsie, NY. Collectively they've encountered approximately 200 people in which they shared information to first time voters, registering nearly fifty individuals, encouraging those who were undecided to vote, lending an ear to the opposition while focusing on the mission of OUR VOTE-OUR COMMUNITY MATTERS. Lastly, Kanell is the assistant treasurer and civic engagement chairman of the NAACP-Northern Dutchess branch.
