Limerick New Music Ensemble

Limerick New Music Ensemble are a group of like-minded musicians and composers performing and promoting new music in Limerick city and county.

Originally formed as CoMA Limerick in 2008 as the first International ensemble of the award winning UK based network CoMA (Contemporary Music for All), the group have enjoyed residencies at the Belltable Arts Centre, Limerick and The Hunt Museum, Limerick. The ensemble have performed concerts both locally and nationally, well attended by a diverse audience helping to contribute to the cultural fabric of Limerick city and county. They have attracted funding on both a local and national level (ACI Small Festivals 2009; ACI Music Project Award 2011; LCC Grants Under the Arts Act 2022) and have become regular performers at Limerick City Culture Night.

In 2022, the ensemble entered a new, exciting phase in their development – relaunching as Limerick New Music Ensemble. Director Fiona Linnane is leading the ensemble into a new era with renewed focus on providing a platform for music by Irish composers, both emerging and established. Their ethos of making contemporary music accessible to audiences in Limerick remains the same while making connections with other practitioners within the city and county to engage new listeners.
