Macushla

Macushla trade in raw, energetic folk/rock with Dublin songwriter Brian Brody (The Pale/Black Cabaret) at the helm on vocals and acoustic guitar. Brian is renowned on the Dublin pub scene and beyond for his roof-raising sets of trad, folk and rock covers, and vows to “push each performance to the next level” for Macushla’s epic renditions of Irish classics – as befits the night that’s in it, evoking the spirit of The Pogues, Luke Kelly and Planxty. Their original compositions interweave Celtic mythology with heartfelt personal stories and acoustic flourish, as in-demand uilleann piper&concertina player Tara Finn adds haunting strains to the bluegrass-steeped rhythms of bassist Andy Slowey and the dynamic percussion power of Al Cowan (Paranoid Visions/Caliban).
