Christine O'Kelly is the Age-Friendly Coordinator at Dublin City University, the world's first designated Age-Friendly University.
DCU is leading a global network of Age-Friendly Universities (AFU) which comprise more than 85 institutions of higher education representing Europe, North America, Aouth America, South East Asia and Australia.
Christine activities on ageing in DCU operating under 6 Pillars: Research and Innovation, Teaching and Learning, Life long Learning/Intergenerational Learning, Civic Engagement, Encore Career and Enterprise and institutional change. She also works closely with the community and organisations in the non-profit sector on issues relating to ageing.
DCU is a member of the Irish Senior Citizen Parliament, the International Federation on Ageing, the EU Innovnet Partnership, and a founder member of the Covenant on Demographic Change. The GSA's Academy for Gerontology in Higher Education has endorsed DCU's Age-Friendly Principles in addition to the WHO Age-Friendly World, E-region Seniors Active Ageing Networks and Age-Friendly Ireland.
