ScandIRE – Ireland and Nordic Welfare

Ireland’s welfare state is at a crossroad. In the context of Brexit policy borrowing from the UK lost its appeal. Debates about a New Ireland envision different welfare futures and Covid has shown a massive expansion of social transfers. In this context, the ScandIRE Nordic Talk Series explores the Scandinavian welfare model and what it can offer for Ireland. The series discusses the pivotal challenges as well as pointing out concrete steps towards a Nordic welfare model in conversation with academics, policy-makers and civil society.
