Spectrum Research Centre
The Spectrum Research Centre (SRC) is an organization established in 2017 with the primary purpose of supporting young academics in bringing their research into practical action. It was founded in response to the requests of local social and academic researchers, as well as post-graduate students, who recognized the need for a space where research hypotheses and findings could be validated through local actions.
The SRC draws on a wide range of expertise from diverse yet complementary disciplines. These disciplines include pedagogy and didactics (teaching methods and instructional strategies), instructional design, social policy, e-learning (technology-enabled learning), gamification (use of game elements in non-game contexts), entrepreneurship, anthropology, social psychology, local history, gerontology (study of aging), and early childhood learning.
One of the key objectives of the SRC is to effect policy change. To achieve this, the organization publishes policy briefs on various topics throughout the year. Despite being a relatively new company, the majority of the 22 academics involved in the SRC have extensive European experience. They have gained this experience through ERASMUS exchanges (student mobility program) and internships conducted across Europe.
In the long term, the SRC aims to establish a Centre for Educational Innovation. This center would serve as a platform for putting research findings into practical use, further emphasizing the organization's commitment to bridging the gap between academic research and real-world application.
