St John the Evangelist Church, Park Avenue, Sandymount, Dublin 4
s is an unusual, if not unique, church. It was founded as a trustee Church of Ireland church by Sidney Herbert, brother of the Earl of Pembroke, in 1850. It has no parish but is a landmark in Sandymount, a coastal suburb of South Dublin City. There is still a pew reserved for the Earl of Pembroke. Since our foundation St. John’s has been known for Anglo-Catholic worship, a tradition we continue today. Sung Eucharist is celebrated every Sunday at 11am and visitors are welcome.
