Sec.) secretary@irishgerontology.com if you wish to register as a student.** Please do not choose the student option if you do not meet the following criteria - you are registered in a full time undergraduate or in a graduate entry programme. Graduate entry programme students are those undertaking an accelerated degree e.g. in Medicine, Allied Health discipline or another recognised graduate programme. You are classed as a student for IGS meetings if whereby at the time of submission of your abstract on 27/05/2016 you were enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate entry programme or you currently still are for the coming academic year. If you are undertaking a MD, MSc, PhD, diploma or any further education you are not classed as a student for the purpose of IGS meetings. If you are unsure whether you meet this criteria please contact secretary@irishgerontology.com for verification before you make your reservation. Please bring your student ID to the conference. Nursing Symposium on Friday 30th September 2016 17.30-19.00
This symposium will be of interest to IGS delegates from a nursing background. It will be chaired IGS Executive Committee nursing representative Jonathan O'Keeffe (Nurse Specialist and Registered Nurse Prescriber at SVUH). National and local updates from leaders in Irish gerontological nursing including NCPOP, Stroke Care, AIGNA, Kerry University Hospital/IT Tralee and UHL/UL. Speakers confirmed include Deirdre Lang DON NCPOP & Imelda Noone ANP Stroke Care. To attend this symposium you must book in advance online and be a registered delegate of this Scientific Meeting.

HSCP Symposium on Friday 30th Sept 17.30-19.00
This symposium will be of interest to delegates (including students) from an allied health background. Dr. Anne Twomey, MSc Gerodentology and Director of the Irish Dental Association will present 'Older People & the New Dental Tsunami'. Anne Claffey, Speech and Language Therapist, will present a brief update on the interdisciplinary group of the NCPOP. The symposium will be chaired by Elaine O Connor, Hon. Sec. IGS. Elaine will also facilitate a discussion on the establishment of a special interest group for HSCPs within IGS. ISPGM Autumn Meeting on Friday 30th Sept 17.30-19.00
This meeting is of interest and open to all consultant physicians in geriatric medicine who are encouraged and welcome to attend. Autumn meeting of Irish Society of Physicians in Geriatric Medicine: This society of consultant physicians in geriatric medicine was founded in 1979. With over 120 members and growing, it is the primary physician advocacy body for the care of older persons in Ireland.

Our conference will be of interest to health and social-care professionals, academics involved in the study of ageing and those concerned with advocacy for older people.  We would like to thank University of Limerick, University of Limerick Hospitals, Tralee Institute of Technology and Kerry University Hospital for partnering with us on this event.

The Malton Hotel, Killarney, Co. Kerry

Delegates arriving at the conference hotel on Thursday evening will be able to complete their event registration between 19.00 and 21.00  in the IGS networking lounge in the conference centre. There will be a screening of the film 'Older Than Ireland - One Hundred Years of Love, Laughter & Happiness' in the conference centre's Mangerton Suite from 21.00-22.15.  Please note that last orders in the dining-room at the Malton are at 9 pm. Bar food is available until 9.30 pm.

Our conference will have a varied and interesting scientific programme for delegates and includes our annual members' gala dinner.

Delegates must book in advance using this booking facility to attend this event.  For logistics and housekeeping purposes, online booking closes at midnight on Friday 23rd September 2016.  For capacity reasons, we are sorry but it will not be possible to accept new bookings on conference days.  We encourage you to book early as there are a limited number of places available.
