The philosophy promoted by New Acropolis is, above all, a way of life which is accessible to all and consists of putting into practice the teachings of the wise men and women of all times. The application of knowledge results in a better individual, who will therefore be capable of building a better world.Philosophical experience forms the basis for a model of active and participative culture, which brings out the qualities of each person, broadens the horizons of the mind and fosters all expressions of the spirit.This type of culture makes us free and better.The sense of service to humanity takes the form of a firm commitment to today’s society and to the future, and a determination to answer the great questions that arise from living in a world full of contradictions and challenges.If philosophy – as a search for the truth – manages to bring us closer to the root of things, to their deepest cause, everything takes on a new meaning. It is important to know why we act and who we want to benefit with our actions and what we want to achieve.A practical philosophy, which helps people to live, to harmonise the human being with others and with the world, to accept what one is and to fight for what one wants to be.

<h2>Course in PHILOSOPHY FOR LIVING</h2>It is by practicing the universal values of philosophy that we can deeply transform ourselves and turn our ideas into action.The practice of philosophy develops self-confidence, moral strength and resilience to face the difficulties and crises of life. It allows us to become an actor of change in our lives and around us.The course offers a series of theoretical and practical classes to progress in self-knowledge, to practice taking advantage of each circumstance in life without forgetting to develop solidarity with others.<h2>IN PRACTICE</h2><ul><li>14 philosophy for living classes.</li><li>Classes take place every Thursday evening, from September 10th.</li><li>Course length: 14 weeks.</li><li>Times: from 7.30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. every Thursday (connection via a Hangout meet video conference link).</li><li>Price: free for the first 3 classes, then €40 to enrol (special rate).</li><li>Open to all, no prior knowledge of philosophy necessary.</li></ul>The course will start online and will continue in our centre in Rathmines, Dublin when permitted by government guidelines.This first cycle of philosophy for living classes continues with additional levels for those who wish to progress.<h2>PROGRAM OF COURSE: PHILOSOPHY FOR LIVING</h2><h3>ETHICS: TO KNOW YOURSELF - THE WAY OF THE HERO</h3>Class 1: Meditation and action.The nature of the human being: To to be and to appear. (free)Class 2: Plato and the myth of the cave.Freedom and Responsibility: The Heroic Path. (free)Class 3: India and the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita.Decision and action: the inner battle. (free)Class 4: Buddhism - suffering and consciousness.Detachment and the middle way: learning from suffering.Class 5: Tibetan Mysticism.The path of wisdom and the "Voice of silence".Class 6: Socrates and the way to Happiness.<h3>SOCIO-POLITICS: TO ACT WITH OTHERS IN SOCIETY</h3>Class 1: How to change society?To act with ideals in a world of confinement and transition.Class 2: Relations between Individual and State.Individual ideal and collective ideals. To see and imagine our personal life in the midst of the uncertainty and transition of our societies.Class 3: Education and initiation.Education as a path of transformation. What have we learned from confinement? To what extent does this experience transform us?Class 4: To learn interdependence and solidarity.Philosophy as a tool to overcome the “diseases of power”.<h3>ACTING IN HISTORY: THE PATH OF TRANSITION</h3>Class 1: Getting out of immediacy.To be and to become in history.Class 2: Myths and archetypes: re-enchanting the world. The role of imagination in becoming: myth and history.Class 3: Cycles and evolution.Scenarios for a future world.Class 4: Historical perspectives.Towards a new Renaissance.The course includes a practical dimension, to learn to live what we have understood: exercises on concentration, attention, memory, imagination; management of the body, energies and emotions; awareness of habits.<h3>WHO ARE THE INSTRUCTORS?</h3>The philosophy classes are offered by the members of New Acropolis Ireland team which has over 30 years of experience teaching philosophy in a friendly and participative environment.Our instructors are passionate and experienced philosophers who like to share their love and their living experience of philosophy.They will be delighted to present this unique and original approach to you in philosophy for living!
