About this Event:The ISACS Network supported by Wexford County Council Arts Department are proud to present Why Don’t We Do It In The Road, a seminar based on the book of the same name for anyone who enjoys creating outdoor theatre performances, is interested in learning about it and the mechanisms behind it. The seminar will be held via Zoom and will be led by the books author and Ljud founding member, Vida Cerkvenik Bren.About the Book:Why Don’t We Do It In The Road is based within Vida’s own personal experience of creating theatre in the streets, squares, parks, villages, buses, hospitals, churches and even mountains. Although a personal experience, it is one that is embedded in the firm belief that art should be created collectively. The opportunity to publish these thoughts and practical exercises came when Ljud was invited by the RIOTE (Rural Inclusive Outdoor Theatre Education) partnership to prepare a “practical guide to creating outdoor theatre” as part of the international project RIOTE 2. The result of which led to Why Don’t We Do It In The Road.About Vida:Vida Cerkvenik Bren is a theatre director and graduate of the Slovenian academy of performing arts (AGRFT). She has won many awards for her work in the field of theatre as well as having in-depth experience with European and transnational projects. In 2006, Vida co-founded Ljud – an international collective that explores the possibilities of artistic expression in public spaces through interactive performances and site-specific projects. Since its establishment, she has been one of the long-term mentors and leaders of the Ljud&#x27;s Laboratory education program. She has taught and lectured at the National Theatre University in Iran as well as in South Korea, Israel, Russia, Belarus and across the EU. She was also a regular mentor for ŠUGLA - school of street theatre in Slovenia.About Ljud:Ljud is an international collective of performers, directors, visual artists and activists based in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Their main goal is to explore the possibilities of artistic expression in public space and new theatrical forms based on interaction rather than presentation. They have presented work at over 100 renowned international art festivals in more than 30 countries around the world, while also independently developing new approaches to educational, social and environmental projects.Since 2016, Ljud group has been a partner in international project RIOTE, where they collaborate in the exchange of theatre methods with partners from England, Italy, Hungary, Romania, France and Germany. Ljud is also one of the initiators and founding members of the EFETSA (European Federation for Education in Street Arts) and In Touch network.About RIOTE:RIOTE (Rural Inclusive Outdoor Theater Education), are a collection of theatre companies, programmers and film makers from Italy, Hungary, Romania, Slovenia, France, Germany and the UK, who are passionate about rural and outdoor performance. They research diverse and approachable styles of outdoor theatre which can surprise, challenge and relate intimately to people’s lives. They are interested in outdoor theatre’s potential to reach new audiences who are not necessarily theatre goers.
