This online Transition to Secondary’ group is for 6th class students who stammer.

Following the success from last year's group, ISA are delighted to announce a new series of the 'Transition to Secondary’ group for 6th class students who stammer.The sessions are held online from May to September.Thursday 22nd May at 6pmThursday 12th June at 6pmThursday 28th August at 6pmThursday 2nd October at 6pm What happens during this group series?The sessions are facilitated by Penny Farrell, Aisling Keogh and Jonathon Linklater who all work with the ISA. They are all also SLTs working with young people who stammer. The course is not a speech therapy course - the aim is to support the 6th class group to feel preperared and confident as they move to their new school. Over the 4 sessions, the students will have the space to explore their knowledge and feelings about stammering and their transition to secondary school as a group. The group will help the students to feel prepared and confident, ready for their first day at their new secondary school. They will make new friends and have an opportunity to share their experiences with peers who are at the same stage as themselves.We will cover a range of topics and activities including; self-advocating, how to tell new friends and teachers about having a stammer, communication skills, team working, problem solving and confidence-building.
