Exploring and workshopping new choral pieces

Join Laetare Vocal Ensemble and conductor Róisín Blunnie to explore exciting contemporary repertoire that the choir has commissioned / premiered / rehearsed / performed this year. Composers Katie Bamford, Rhona Clarke, Evangelia Rigaki, Laura Sheils, and Norah Walsh will be present to discuss their compositional inspirations and approaches and how they interacted with the choir and other collaborators to create their pieces.We extend a warm welcome to conductors, composers, singers, and anyone interested in how contemporary choral music is created, rehearsed, and performed.The workshop will include the following pieces:<ul><li>Out from Under the Overwhelm, by Norah Walsh</li><li>Epitaph, by Rhona Clarke</li><li>Green, by Evangelia Rigaki</li><li>Regina Caeli and The Comet, by Laura Sheils</li><li>Ecstasy, by Katie Bamford</li><li>New pieces by emerging choral composers Cameron Macauley ('The Red Poppy') and Daniel Vives-Lynch ('Sintéis II'), who are members of the choir.</li></ul>Sunday 18th May, 12pm to 3pm, Room PG01, Purcell House, DCU All Hallows Campus, Drumcondra.Vehicle entrance via Grace Park Road. Parking is free during the working in red-lined and white-lined spaces only. Do not park in the blue-lined paid parking area as this is subject to clamping 24/7.Pedestrian access also via gate on Church Ave, Drumcondra.Admission free.Hosted by Laetare Vocal Ensemble and Dublin City University in association with the Contemporary Music Centre and Sing Ireland
