We are delighted to be joined by author of The Remote Work Era Rhiannon Payne. From Rhiannon:&quot;At the end of 2020, I published The Remote Work Era book, which is a comprehensive guide for women to go remote and thrive in their careers. It includes interviews with 50+ women remote work leaders globally, at organizations including the Wikimedia Foundation, Basecamp, Buffer, Doist, and more.&quot;&quot;As I wrote in The Remote Work Era, 83% of workers who report having a disability or chronic illness say they are only able to work BECAUSE of opportunities to work from home.

Remote work can open the door to a whole new world of possibilities for workers with disabilities or health challenges!&quot;&quot;2020 was, from a global perspective, probably the worst year any of us can remember. But the sudden switch to working from home also offered a new perspective on what is possible in spite of the hardships, expanding people’s horizons for what it means to work and new ways to shape their lives.
In the book, I explore how this workforce shift can be particularly impactful for women and marginalized workers — outside the context of forced remote work during a pandemic and shutdown, which was incredibly harmful. In normal times, remote work empowers people to work from anywhere and have more options for managing responsibilities like childcare.
