About this event

Transitions - Supporting your child Emotionally and Socially when transitioning to pre-school and school - a talk for parents, with HSE Psychologist Mary Mangan

Following recent lockdowns waiting lists for services are long; parents may have concerns about their child's transition to pre-school/ ECCE or from playschool to primary school. Parents may be interested to learn how best to support and prepare their child through such transitions. Kildare County Childcare Committee are running a series of events for parents of young children, this is the first event in the series . This session will be delivered by HSE Clinical Psychologist Mary Mangan

Mary will talk to parents at this event about how they can support their child emotionally on the lead up and during their transition to pre-school or school. Explore ways of supporting children with managing the big feelings such as worry that may arise for them. We will look at ways to help build children's sense of resilience and also explore ways to support children’s social development.

Mary will briefly discuss her role as a psychologist within the Primary Care Psychology Service and what the service offers in supporting young children. She will talk about how to get some one-to-one advice and how to access the service.

If you have questions for Mary in advance of this session you can submit these to jane@kccc.ie and we will address as many as we can. There may also be time for some questions following the talk.

Kildare County Childcare Committee wish to support parents in accessing the national childcare schemes, including ECCE free pre-school years.
