And can you collaborate without compromising the work?In 2020, Science Gallery Dublin partnered with Accenture’s global R&amp;D and innovation centre, The Dock, on an Artist-in-Residency for international artists interested in systems-thinking and interdisciplinary approaches to addressing complex societal issues. To mark the culmination of this partnership, Science Gallery Dublin and Accenture’s The Dock are bringing together an international panel to discuss patronage and collaboration. The Medicis helped spark the Renaissance with their deep pockets and approach to soft power. In the modern era, how do artists, innovators and cultural institutions work deftly at the intersection of industry, research, and artistic practice? The event is hosted by Science Gallery and Accenture The Dock, featuring Jess Majekodunmi, Director of Human Insights Lab at Accenture The Dock, in a live conversation with artist and researcher Mike Tyka and curator Julia Kaganskiy.PANELISTSJulia Kaganskiy was the founding director of NEW INC, the first museum-led incubator dedicated to art, design and technology founded by the New Museum in 2014. After launching, running and growing NEW INC for five years, she is currently working as a freelance curator and cultural strategist and continuing to work with the New Museum as Curatorial Advisor for NEW INC’s artist residency program in collaboration with Nokia Bell Labs and their Experiments in Art and Technology Lab. She previously served as Global Editor of The Creators Project, a partnership between VICE Media Group and Intel. In 2010, she founded #ArtsTech Meetup, an initiative that brings together digital artists and professionals from New York’s museums, galleries, and art-related start-ups. She has been profiled as an influential woman in technology by Fast Company (2011), the AOL/PBS series  13) and named to Crain’s New York Business’s 40 Under 40 list (2015).Mike Tyka studied Biochemistry and Biotechnology at the University of Bristol. He obtained his PhD in Biophysics in 2007 and went on to work as a research fellow at the University of Washington to study the structure and dynamics of protein molecules. In particular, he has been interested in protein folding and has been writing computer simulation software to better understand this fascinating process. Mike joined Google in 2012 and worked on creating a neuron-level map of fly and mouse brain tissue using computer vision and machine learning.MODERATORJess Majekodunmi is a design historian and an innovation designer whose career has zig zagged across continents, roles, organisations and sectors, for-profit and for non-profits. As the Director of the Human Insights Lab at The Dock, Accenture&#x27;s flagship global R&amp;D centre, she spends her working hours helping business leaders go beyond good intentions, helping them ask ‘why?’, ‘how?’ and ‘so what?’ when it comes to people, society and technology.ABOUT ACCENTURE THE DOCKThe Dock is Accenture’s flagship R&amp;D and Global Innovation Centre based in Dublin, Ireland where design, business and technology come together under one roof.
