This is the untold story of a life that went from the slum streets of Victorian Dublin to the sumptuous salons of Tsarist Russia, from high politics in European capitals to the American oil rush in Mexico in the 1920s.Kevin Rafter is Full Professor of Political Communication at Dublin City University and the author/editor of over a dozen highly regarded books including Taoisigh and the Arts (2022), (2019) and The Irish Presidency: Power, Ceremony &amp; Politics (2014). He has also written several political biographies, and histories of Sinn Féin, Fine Gael, Clann na Poblachta and Democratic Left. Kevin’s new book, Dillon Rediscovered, a biography of foreign correspondent E.J. Dillon (1854-1933), has been described as, ‘vivid, compelling’ (Sunday Times), ‘breaks new ground’ (Irish Times), ‘fascinating’ (Irish Examiner) and ‘truly exceptional’ (Irish Independent). He has chaired the two national bodies responsible for the arts, the Arts Council and Culture Ireland. He was a Fulbright Scholar at Boston College in 2024 and was previously a leading political and broadcast journalist.
