Family Carers Ireland

In this 2-hour workshop parents and carers will develop their understanding of how puberty can impact on children with additional needs. Participants will explore challenges about body changes, emotional development, and boundaries.Participants will learn how to enhance their communication strategies and use practical tools to support their child. Themes covered in this workshop include; Puberty changes and dysregulation, anxiety, understanding of public/private, communication strategies and self-care, fostering independence and autonomy.Presenter Details: Clara O’ByrneDr Clara is a highly experienced Chartered Psychologist, (PSI and BPS), with expertise in Education and Disability and is certified ADHD Parent Coach. A former NCSE advisor (Behaviour &amp; Wellbeing) and special school teacher, she runs a private practice in West Cork. Dr Clara’s extensive training has focused on Neuro-affirming practice, Coaching Psychology, Brain/Body connection, Stress Management, and Disability advocacy. Dr Clara has a particular interest in working with Neurodivergent individuals, Parents, and teens.
