Baggotonia Festival is an annual celebration of the community, history, arts, culture, entertainment and people - past, present and future – in the area emanating from Baggot Street Bridge - Dublin's once-upon-a-time Bohemian Quarter.  Baggotonia.

We are delighted to announce that the Baggotonia Film of the Festival 2025 is <a href="https://loopline.com/se-merry-doyle/" title="https://loopline.com/se-merry-doyle/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Sé Merry Doyle</a>’s award-winning Patrick Kavanagh - No Man’s Fool and a second screening over the Festival weekend.The film maps out Kavanagh’s life from his native Inniskeen in County Monaghan to Dublin’s Baggotonia where he spent most of his life.It is a rich visual journey, exposing the contradictions that existed between Kavanagh’s public persona and his poetry.Against the odds, Kavanagh survived great poverty and ill-health to deliver a canon of powerful and evocative poetry.In Patrick Kavanagh - No Man’s Fool, we are offered a rich and diverse portrait of Kavanagh with contributions from TP McKenna, John Montague, Leland Bardwell, Macdara Woods, Dermot Healy and Kavanagh’s one time girlfriend Deirdre Manifold.Winner of the Award for Best Documentary at the Boston Irish Film Festival, No Man’s Fool is a must-see for all Baggotonians. And a worthy sequel to our 2024 Film of the Festival, Ghosts of Baggotonia by Director Alan Gilsenan.No Man’s Fool will be screened at the Lansdowne Hotel on the afternoon of Sunday 21 September.
