The Hugh Lane Sunday Concert Series from the Abbey Presbyterian Chruch (Findlater's) present:Dublin Song SeriesMatthew McKinney, tenorDearbhla Collins, piano<h4>Finding Freedom - 'Voyage'</h4> Programme to include works by: Schubert, Duparc, Debussy and Rachmaninoff with traditional Irish and Scottish folk songs. This programme is called ‘Voyage’. Beyond the obvious themes in various songs, what we are drawn to is the youthful spirit – of innocence, of adventure, passion – which is viewed in hindsight through the memory of a lost love. The folk songs punctuate the narrative with present-day reflections, and the music journeys through uncertainty and surrealism towards grief, until a sense of newfound peace is reachedWinner of the 2024 Kathleen Ferrier Awards, Scottish tenor Matthew McKinney is quickly establishing himself as an exciting and sensitive young singer. He recently made his debut at Carnegie hall as a Song Studio Artist, and he looks forward to returning to Glyndebourne in summer 2025 as a Jerwood Young Artist.
