Event description

Description

The biggest festival of the Bengali community, Durga Puja ranks among the most popular festivals in India. It is a four-day festival and is dedicated to the worship of Goddess Durga. Immense fanfare and celebration take place during Durga Puja. Although Durga Puja is a particularly significant festival of Bengal, people in many other states and countries also celebrate it with great enthusiasm. It is a festival that depicts triumph of good over evil as it celebrates victory of Goddess Durga over Mahishasura, the Buffalo demon after nine days of fierce battle.

The Durga Puja festival is a social and theatrical event. Drama, dance, and cultural performances are widely held. Food is a huge part of the festival, and street stalls blossom all over Kolkata. As dusk approaches the Kolkata skyline, streets of Kolkata fill with people, who come from all over the country to admire the work of the artisans who create incredibly beautiful sculpture and artwork of Goddess Durga, coupled with enjoying yummy food and company of friends and family.

SUJAN is celebrating its 18th Durga Puja event on 27th (Friday) & 28th (Saturday) September, 2019, in our state-of-the-art venue like last year. The event will be fun filled, like every other year, with all the Puja rituals, Pushpanjali, Dhunuchi Dance, Sindur Khela, Music, Drama & Dance Shows, and a full spread of Indian Lunch and Dinner & special Kids Menu for children under 6 years. We are making this a full 2 day event this year taking a cue from last year where we saw a record footfall.

Our new state-of-the-art venue is well connected by public transport and only 7 mins drive from M50 exit 11. Ample free parking is available at the venue and the bus stop is within a 1-minute walk. GPS Co-ordinates: 53.281147, -6.345486.

Tickets for various combinations of events are listed to cater to all age groups and interests. We are also making our event attractive to International Students by giving them discounts on tickets for both the days - see Ticket Category starting with 'STUDENT'.
