Nollaig na mBan Festival, North Inner City, Dublin On 6 January each year, women all over Ireland celebrate Nollaig na mBan, also known as ‘Little Christmas’ and ‘Women’s Christmas’. Traditionally, this was a day women downed tools and had a day of rest and pampering after the hard work of Christmas. The Nollaig na mBan Festival in Dublin’s North Inner City has taken this day to a whole new level.  Our events are  sponsored by Dublin City Council, (NEIC North East Inner City).The special day was designed to honour and celebrate local women, the unsung heros of our community.  To date this festival has a record of attracting top class events, using local venues such as Charleville Mall Library, St. Columba’s Church and a variety of pubs and venues in the local Ballybough and North Strand area.  Each year between 10- 12 local women – unsung heroes – are chosen for their various contributions to the area, with posters of the women hung outdoors and an award ceremony on the day.This year on Tuesday 6th of January we have confirmed  Camille O' Sullivan, HamSandwicH, Ailbhe Reddy,  Sharyn Ward and Mary Byrne . Our awards ceremony takes place in Charleville Mall Library on the afternoon of 6th of January where we celebrate the 10 local women  who are awarded with an awards ceremony.  We are delighted to have local legend Catriona Crowe as our MC for the awards.  Each year we find that there are SO many local women that its impossible to celebrate all who were nominated.
