Helen Hancock Soprano and The Triskel Ensemble
An afternoon of Handel, Mozart, popular classical music and opera, musical theatre numbers, Irish music and songs
Rathfarnham born, Galway based soprano Helen Hancock has performed with us on several occasions before. This time Helen will perform with her Triskel Ensemble, a string quartet she formed with the idea of performing concerts that embrace the lighter side of classical music. Expect well known pieces from Handel to Mozart, from Les Misérables to Chess, TV and movie themes from ET to Scent of a Woman, and from opera to Irish airs (with audience participation on occasion). There is literally something for everyone! The ensemble had a string of sold out concerts in 2025 in several venues including The Mick Lally Theatre, Galway and The Mount Carmel Concert Series, Loughrea, all with standing ovations. The Triskel Logo represents the countries of the musicians who come from Venezuela, Hungary and Ireland and you can see from the photo that they have a lot of fun making music together!
Helen's career has really taken off in the last year: she sang a lead role in the Colm Toibín/Alberto Caruso opera Lady Gregory in America at the Gregory -Yeats Autumn Gathering 2025, directed by Lelia Doolan in association with the Abbey Theatre. Along with numerous sold out performances, her debut album TOGETHERNESS with her German pianist Paul Cibis came out on Navona Records. It features German lieder alongside Irish folk songs including first recordings of new music by Irish composers Anne-Marie O'farrell and Criostóir Ó Loingsigh. Renowned for her expressive artistry and for the warm atmosphere and rapport she generates with the audience, she is delighted to return to Rathfarnham Castle once again.
