Jancis Robinson & Bo Barrett : The Judgement of Paris, 50 years later LIVE
A live conversation with wine legends Jancis Robinson & Bo Barrett, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Judgement of Paris.
Few people have shaped the global understanding of wine like Jancis Robinson. The first person outside the wine trade to become a Master of Wine, and described by Decanter as “the most respected wine critic and journalist in the world”, Jancis recently marked 50 years as a wine writer.
Californian wine has played an extraordinary role in her life, both professionally and personally. Her very first national newspaper article was a front-page report in The Sunday Times in 1976, covering Moët’s investment in Yountville. She later met her husband at a Californian wine tasting at the US Embassy in London; together they went on to open L’Escargot, unique at the time for listing only American wines.
On Tuesday 14 April, Jancis will be joined on stage, in Dublin, by Bo Barrett, Napa pioneer and charismatic CEO at his family estate Chateau Montelena. Bo has been involved in every Montelena vintage since his family assumed ownership in 1972, including the legendary 1973 Chardonnay that triumphed at the Judgement of Paris. Irish heritage runs deep: both of Bo’s grandparents emigrated from Ireland, and he proudly holds an Irish passport.
Together, Jancis and Bo will reflect on their parallel careers, their shared commitment to US wine, and the lasting legacy of a moment that changed the wine world.
Come and experience this with us and taste some aged gems from the cellar of Chateau Montelena.
