A student conference exploring leadership, volunteering, and global citizenship, helping students link service to their Gaisce journey.

The Online Roots and Shoots: Student Volunteer Conference is taking place this Friday, 20 March, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm online!If you can't make it to the in-person event in Cork, don’t worry! This part of the conference will be livestreamed, ensuring that students and supporters of volunteering from anywhere in the world can join and connect.This conference celebrates student leadership, bold ideas, and the transformative partnerships that empower campuses to shape a fairer, more sustainable world. Students will be encouraged to see their service as part of a broader movement toward social justice and sustainability, and how they can integrate their existing or planned volunteer activities into completing the Community Involvement Challenge Area of the Gaisce Award. They will learn how to blend their passion for serving others into their Gaisce journey, using volunteering as a pathway to personal development, confidence-building, and meaningful social contribution.Attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of volunteering as both a personal journey and a tool for global solidarity.Speakers will be announced soon. Keep an eye on our social media and website for updates!Through talks, discussions, and lived experience stories, the conference will dive into:<ul><li>What volunteering looks like in local Irish communities.</li><li>How students can use their existing volunteering activities to achieve their Gaisce Award.</li><li>How volunteering takes shape within communities in countries of the Global South</li><li>How students can make a global impact through local action.</li><li>Voices and experiences of student volunteers from around the world</li></ul>The link to the livestream will be sent to registered attendees by email.
