A play reading about love, family and secrets, Susie returns from Italy engaged to Alfredo, but his past threatens their wedding plans

Susie, the last remaining unmarried child of Peg and Fran, returns from a holiday in Italy with the news that she has fallen in love with Alfredo, a waiter she’s met in Milan. This unexpected announcement of new love, and the news that Susie plans to marry Alfredo in Dublin, creates serious consternation and disruption at home. Peg launches a major redecorating project, including the installation of a bidet under the stairs. While Fran, with his new Italian phrase book, is now expected to make a bilingual speech at the wedding. But all the plans and excitement are threatened with the sudden, and dramatic news that Alfredo’s past is not what everyone believed, and Alfredo may have no choice but to retrace his earlier journey from Milano to Marino and go home
