Wednesday, Apr 15 from 6 pm to 7:30 pm
Overview

A documentary following four Brazilian drag queens, revealing their stories of resilience, joy, and the realities behind the glamour

International Premiere at The Five Lamps Arts Festival

DRAGS, A SUPER FILM offers a powerful and intimate look into the lives of four Brazilian drag artists: Tchaka, Hellena Borgys, Márcia Pantera and Vera Ronzella.

Filmed between 2022 and 2023, this documentary takes audiences behind the scenes of their daily lives, creative worlds, and artistic practices. Through their stories, the film celebrates drag as a vibrant art form full of joy, colour and expression, while also exploring the challenges of prejudice and the strength required to live authentically.

Each performer brings a unique voice:

  • Tchaka, the “Queen of Parties,” a long-standing presence at São Paulo Pride
  • Hellena Borgys, inspired by family and Brazilian television culture
  • Márcia Pantera, a pioneer of the iconic bate cabelo dance style
  • Vera Ronzella, a sharp-witted, unapologetic performer

Together, their stories form a moving portrait of resilience, identity, and artistic freedom.
