Africa Day commemorates the establishment of the Organisation of African Unity on 25 May 1963, when 31 African nations met to symbolize the continent's freedom from colonial rule.
It is an annual celebration held on May 25th marking the 1963 foundation of the Organisation of African Unity (now the African Union). It celebrates African diversity, unity, and culture, while promoting the continent's potential.
While celebrated across the continent, Africa Day is also marked worldwide.
