Live after moving abroad: The Psychology of Emigration and Relationships

6-11 Hendrick StDublin 7, Dublin
Sunday, April 12  •  3 PM - 6 PM
Overview

A lecture and networking session with a psychotherapist Kristina Tatarnikova

Moving to another country is more than a change of location. It is a profound psychological process that affects identity, relationships, and the entire family system.

In this talk we will explore:

  • • the stages of adaptation most migrants experience after relocation
  • • why cultural shock, fatigue, and emotional ups and downs appear
  • • how roles and relationships inside families change after a move
  • • the particular challenges women may face, especially when children are involved
  • • the signs of psychological overload during adaptation
  • • why different people go through emigration in very different ways

We will also talk about an important aspect of migration that is often overlooked. Emigration can become not only a challenge but also a powerful process of self-discovery and psychological development.

At the end of the talk we will also discuss how personality structure and self-regulation skills influence the way people adapt to life in a new country.

Kristina Tatarnikova, psychotherapist

She moved to Ireland 4 years ago and experienced every stage of adapting to a new country.

Now she helps others to navigate culture shock, identity crisis, homesickness, and integration challenges.

🎟 Open Entrance: thanks to the EU funding we’re able to make it for free and cover rent-related costs.

💛 On all our events you'll find community atmosphere rooted with love and acceptance.
