Bulgarian bagpipes and folk dances in Dublin - 5 Fridays
Explore folk chain dances from Bulgaria, learn about the bagpipes, and socialise. No partner is required.
*No practice on June 5th
Join me in these free active practices on Bulgarian folk dances with special focus on music by Bulgarian bagpipes. We start as early as 7pm with chat and some snacks and dance practice begins at 7.30pm - join any time before that.
Booking is required in order to plan the evening better.
Before you book, please note the following:
- All five sessions are free to attend but reserve only if you are sure that "something else" won't come up on that evening(s) as "more important"! Respect the organiser's efforts and other participants - number of attendees is limited. There are two types of tickets - select if you intend to participate actively or just enjoy the social part.
- You can attend one or, ideally, most/all of the evenings. Book only for the first time you will come and in the booking process you can enter approximately how many evenings you plan to attend. There will be brief review of previous evening but we will build up, so the dance(s) will be added each time.
- Please note: You will need to bring a pair of soft sole shoes that you will use only in the studio. There is space for changing. Nothing special, trainers are ok or similar that are suitable for physical activity. No bare foot or socks will be allowed.
We will start with warm up, slow dances, and increase the tempo and difficulty.
What to expect on the evening:
- Learn about Bulgarian bagpipes - types, construction, live demo
- Basic exercises and music for warm up;
- Break down of and practise some basic steps / combinations;
- Learn a few dances - some are with very easy combinations, others might be a bit more complicated. You can participate as you wish;
- Last 40-45 min will be more intensive and suitable for improvers.
Follow the Facebook page in English - for information and events.
Some parts of the events may be recorded/photographed by the organiser and by attending you agree to this.
