Maigue Rivers Trust: Adare Invasive Species Workshop

Join the Maigue Rivers Trust at Adare Heritage Centre for another free workshop facilitated by Streamscapes!

Our Community Workshops give local residents, groups and volunteers the knowledge to help prevent the spread of invasive species in the Maigue catchment. Workshops will explain what invasive species are, why they threaten native wildlife, habitats, riverbanks, water quality and human health, and how they spread through everyday activities. Participants will learn practical biosecurity actions, responsible garden waste disposal, how to respond safely to plants such as Giant hogweed, and how early reporting can support rapid action.

The workshop is divided into two parts: a 90-minute indoor session featuring an engaging presentation, followed by a 90-minute outdoor field experience at a nearby river, where you’ll apply what you’ve learned in a real-world setting.
