Write, reflect and reconnect with place, dipping into almost 8000 years of history along the way.Starts in Corkagh Park South Car ParkEnds at Round Tower ClondalkinRoute - <a href="https://shorturl.at/mtPNo" title="https://shorturl.at/mtPNo" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://shorturl.at/mtPNo</a>Nicknamed ‘The Drinker’ by people of a certain age in Clondalkin, the Camac has a long industrial past going back to oil-mills and gunpowder mills in the 18th Century and some quiet but deep local history. Our project will follow the river as it splits into a labyrinth of canals and ponds in Corkagh Park - where the river once provided water to gun-powder mills here and the landscape still has the signatures of 18th Century industry - before descending into Clondalkin through the weir known as Sandy Hole, providing a gateway to the sediment ponds of the former Clondalkin paper mills, artificial waterways now so overgrown that it is difficullt to distiguish the engineering from the natural.CATCHMENTSA countrywide creative community project that aims to mobilise “Citizen Art” as a complement to "Citizen Science", the two contributing to society’s growing concern for the environment and reflecting the need for an understanding of the world that is driven by both data and empathy, nurturing both artistic creativity and scientific curiosity.Following their <a href="https://www.schooloflooking.org/EcoSHOWBOAT/ABOUT.html" title="https://www.schooloflooking.org/EcoSHOWBOAT/ABOUT.html" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Eco Showboat</a> voyage in 2022-2023, artists Anne Cleary and Denis Connolly aka <a href="https://www.schooloflooking.org/" title="https://www.schooloflooking.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">School of Looking</a>, left the boat behind in 2025 to explore freshwater environments beyond the navigable waterways and to help increase awareness and understanding of fresh water biodiversity across the island.
