DATES: AUGUST 28TH - 30thMegalithomania is a community arts and music festival that asks questions like, "Has this place always been a Luxury Hotel and Golf Course ? What was this place called before it was a Luxury Hotel and Golf Course and could I have gone there to re-enmesh myself in the ecologies I have come to see myself as separate from?" We also ask questions like; "Is techno feudalism an inevitable consequence of the psychomythological process that began with subjugation of the Tuatha Dé Danann?" "Can Stones talk? " "What do the Peat Bogs have to say?" "What would happen if I stepped on a stray sod on a golf course, and could never get out?!" Join Spooky Beore and Friends for a WEEKEND of workshops, exhibitions, conversations, food, dancing, going a bit astray, folk magic and melting into the flow of nature and non-linear time while nestled among a miniature golf course of ancient megaliths, just like your ancestors would have wanted! Hidden folk of the mounds, lesser beings of the air, roving bands of Fianna Warriors, and, regular humans - ALL WELCOME! Come to us! Step on the stray sod and forget everything! Forget your obligations, forget the drudgery of modern life, forget your phone, forget the friends that wouldn’t come because they said this event wasn’t for them, come be with us at MEGALITHOMANIA! WHAT TO EXPECT:*Ancestral Antics *Magical Realism *Kicking it outside and watching the weather change *Workshops and Activities *Luxury communist Spa Experience (including Fight or Flight Simulation and Unique Bee Sauna) *Music *Art Exhibition *Interactive Art *Feats of Strength *Rainbow Counting * Feasting *Sea Immersion *Being a mysterious blow-in in a rural community *Stones and laying your hands on them *Handshaking *Crazy Golf with a heavy mythic vibeWe have consulted the most renown seer in the land and can confirm it will be the greatest line up since the first Battle of Magh Tuireadh. ESSENTIAL INFORMATIONA HUNDRED TOE-STUBBS upon those who do not read the following pertinent information below:1. Pre Registration: Two of our Events will require Pre-Registration (the Fulacht Fia and Queer Sheds Meitheal). Weekend ticket holders will recieve an email/form before the event to sign up for these events. Please note there is no additional charge for these but pre-reg is required to take part.**2.LOCATION: Ballycastle, Co. Mayo. The 4 Sites for events at Megalithomania are: 1. Ballinglen Arts Foundation (Megalithic Golf Course, Spa and Vistor's Centre) 2. Healy's Bar (Megalithomania Mainstage) 3. The Shambles (Saturday Workshops and Sunday Events) 4. Padraic Barrets Organic Farm (Fulacht Fiadh Workshop on Saturday Only) Ticket holders will present at the Megalitomania Visitors Centre upon arrival to collect their wristband, programme and map, camping info and Champions Feast dining slot time.Visitor Centre Address: Main Street, Ballycastle, Co Mayo, F26 X5N3, IrelandCamping: Camping is provided at the back of Healy's Bar. Healy's campsite has toilets and showers on site. Vans can be accommodated but please contact Healys in advance.Camp site Address: Healy's Bar, Main St, Carrownisky, Ballycastle, Co. Mayo, F26 C3X2**3. FOOD &amp; DRINK: Food on Saturday evening will be provided by the Limerick Food Library and is included in your ticket. Weekend Ticket Holders will get their dining slot time when they arrive at the visitors centre.Ballycastle has two small shops, a cafe and a bakery, two pubs (Healy's Bar serves food at the weekend) and there is a chip van (Mac’s Chipper) in the village on Saturdays. PLEASE NOTE THESE ESTABLISHMENTS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO COPE WITH THE DEMANDS OF A LARGE CROWD. With that in mind we have arranged to pre-order food with these vendors. Where possible book your food in advance to guarantee food for the weekend. (see ticket add ons). Please don’t bring drinks from the campsite into the bar, or food you have been given by the Good Folk...obviously. We advise you bring plenty of snacks for yourself!**4.TRANSPORT/GETTING THERE:Drivers - Free Parking in the village.Not Drivers - Arrange your own transport via Bus or Train to Ballina and the Spooky Beore Megalithomania Dream- Bus will collect you at 6:30PM and deliver you directly to Healeys Bar in Ballycastle, and from there into our ancestral fever dream. The cost of the coach is €20 (return to Ballina) and can be booked in Add Ons. Taxi: Alternatively you can get a taxi from Ballina to Ballycastle for 50e (each way) for a four seater.
