Shorts shorts from Europe - Galway screening
A selection of European short films across diverse genres.
Action, comedy, animation, doc, fiction – expect this and more from Short Shorts from Europe Film Festival – a selection of European short films of nine member countries of EUNIC Ireland.
Let Cyprus, France, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, and Spain entertain you with a variety of genres from contemporary, cutting-edge filmmakers. TUS Limerick School of Art and Design and SETU Waterford will also present a short film from Ireland on the programme.
The Galway programme will include two films out of competition, created by the students of ATU Galway and University of Galway: Assistant, by Celeste Kassautzki (Huston School of Film & Digital Media, University of Galway) and Piseog, by Peadar McNelis (ATU Galway, School of Creative Industries).
Piseog, dir. Peadar McNelis.
Synopsis: After disturbing a fairy tree in 1920s County Clare, Naoise is haunted by sinister visions. As his mother's faith in the old ways collides with his brother's cold refusal to believe, Naoise begins to wonder whether what is tearing his family apart was really awakened by a fairy tree, or by a grief they have never dared to name.
Assistant, dir. Celeste Kassautzki.
Synopsis: Quinn, a desperate jobless graduate, trades her artistic identity for a soulless office job, hoping to finally make something of herself. When her sacrifices go unnoticed by her indifferent boss, she is forced to question if fitting in is worth the total erasure of her true self.
After the screening, audiences will have the chance to vote for their favourite film.
Presented by EUNIC Ireland in partnership with TUS Limerick, SETU Waterford, ATU Galway, and University of Galway
