Overview
Red Line Book Festival at North Clondalkin Library with Myles Dungan
Join historian, author and RTÉ broadcaster Dr Myles Dungan for the story of two Irish emigrants who helped shape modern California.
The Waterboys follows William Mulholland and Michael O’Shaughnessy, two very different men behind the ambitious schemes that brought water to Los Angeles and San Francisco. Their projects were extraordinary feats of engineering, but they were also hugely controversial, displacing communities and transforming the landscape.
Myles will trace their journeys from Ireland to America, the remarkable projects that made their names, and how ambition, politics and a little bit of karma shaped their eventual fortunes.
