Niall Quinn: The Extraordinary Life of Oscar Traynor
Former Republic of Ireland footballer Niall Quinn, a past pupil of nearby O’Connell School, presents a fascinating talk based on his MA research into the remarkable life of Oscar Traynor.
Traynor was a talented footballer and goalkeeper for Belfast Celtic, an Easter Rising veteran, IRA commander during the War of Independence, government minister and long-serving President of the Football Association of Ireland.
Drawing on his extensive research, Niall Quinn explores the many different sides of this extraordinary Dublin figure whose life brought together football, revolution and politics.
