Focus Ireland Shine A Light: STARGAZER
FREE PUBLIC EVENT: An innovative VR-enabled telescope to see the stars no matter what time of day or whatever the weather
Focus Ireland has installed a technologically innovative telescope in St. Patrick’s Park, in Dublin city centre, inviting the public to explore the sky and contemplate the scale of child homelessness in Ireland.
The specially adapted Dobsonian telescope, equipped with a digital viewfinder, allows users to view the stars in the sky above Dublin City Centre irrespective of the time of day or the weather conditions.
Why? There are 2,500 stars visible in the sky to the human eye - but 5,659 children now trapped in homelessness in Ireland today.
There are now more children experiencing homelessness in Ireland than the estimated number of stars in the sky that can typically be seen with the naked eye.
Launching for 4 days in Dublin City Centre to help build support for Focus Ireland's Shine A Light Sleep Out on October 9, the Stargazer will continue to appear around Ireland up to and including Shine A Light night itself.
