About this event

'Tackling the Root Causes of Poverty, Inequality and Climate Change.'

You are invited to join the journey of this year’s Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Advocates; a group of motivated and concerned Active Citizens from all over Ireland, who took the “call to action” in March 2020. The following 8 months unraveled as a rollercoaster of alteration! The team of Advocates were flexible with every adaption of the training and still remained rooted in the integrity of their goal; to deepen their understanding of the SDG’s and to design informed action projects of positive change in the Adult and Community Sector.

The SDG Advocate Training is part of a larger programme called “Saolta”; meaning “worldly - wise” and indeed the showcase event offers an opportunity for leaders and advocates to share their “worldly-wise” insights, ideas and actions.

Key-note speaker - Richard Wilkinson, Professor Emeritus of Social Epidemiology at the University of Nottingham Medical School, Honorary Professor at University College London and Visiting Professor at the University of York.  Two of his books have been the subject of documentary films – The Great Leveller (for the Channel 4 TV’s Equinox series broadcast in1996) was based on his Unhealthy Societies. The Divide (based on The Spirit Level) was released in April 2016 (available on Netflix).

Database: Please note that by signing up for the workshop you will be added to the organisations mailing list. You will receive one email per month. You are free to opt out at any stage.
