Join us in the beautiful, Baroque surrounds of St. Ann’s Church on Dawson St for an evening of celebration and performances with Dublin City Council’s One Dublin One Book choice for 2022, Nuala O&#x27;Connor&#x27;s Nora: A Love Story of Nora Barnacle and James JoyceOne Dublin One Book aims to encourage everyone in Dublin to read a designated book connected with the capital city during the month of April every year.Author Nuala O’Connor will be in conversation with writer and researcher Paula Shields as they discuss Nuala&#x27;s writing career with a special focus on her captivating novel NORA which follows the frequently tumultuous life of Nora Barnacle, wife and muse of James Joyce. The book is an intimate portrayal of their relationship beginning on that well known date of the 16th June 1904 and spanning decades and cities as they follow Joyce’s ferocious literary ambitions throughout Europe. The evening will feature music from Moxie Sings the ever-vibrant acoustic trio of “Moxie” as their genre and rhythm melding tunes take us on a journey across the continents and characters. There will also be dramatic readings by actors Niamh McCormack &amp; Adam Richardson from NORA.This event will be live-streamed from St. Ann&#x27;s Church - tickets available for in-person and live-stream.

Nuala O’Connor Nuala O’Connor is a novelist, short story writer and poet who was born in Dublin and lives now in Co. Galway with her family.She is the author of four previous novels, including Becoming Belle, and Miss Emily, The Closet of Savage Mementos, You and six short story collections, her most recent being Joyride to Jupiter. She has won many prizes for her short fiction including the Francis MacManus Award, the James Joyce Quarterly Fiction Contest and the UK’s Short Fiction Journal Prize.Nuala’s work has also been nominated for numerous prizes including the Edge Hill Short Story Prize, the Kerry Group Irish Novel of the Year Award, the Irish Book Awards Novel of the Year and the International Dublin Literary Award. She is editor-in-chief at flash e-zine Splonk. Her fifth novel, Nora, is about Nora Barnacle, wife and muse to James Joyce, and was published in Ireland in April 2021 with New Island Books.Paula Shields Paula Shields is a writer, researcher and interviewer. An arts journalist since the 1990s, she has worked in London, Galway and Dublin in print, TV and now radio – on Arena, RTE’s flagship arts show. Other professional highlights include originating and researching the IFTA award-winning TV documentary, Fairytale of New York, in 2017, and judging the 2017 and 2018 Irish Times Theatre Awards. Moxie Sings'Moxie Sings' is the acoustic trio formed of members from Irish Alt Folk band Moxie. Composed of vocalist Julia Spanu, banjo and tenor guitarist Ted Kelly and pianist Jos Kelly, the trio delivers a unique reinterpretation of Moxie's original music. Their originality and vibrant character comes from venturing into musical territories where languages, genres and rhythms meet. Niamh McCormackListed by the Irish Examiner as an ‘Actor to Watch’; Niamh recently finished shooting on season two of The Witcher for NETFLIX, and also feature film The Magic Flute in which she played the leading female role ‘Sophie’ opposite Iwan Rheon &amp; F. Murray Abraham. She also starred in the short films Stir and Woof! in 2020 and Ring Saigo’s most recent music video.Adam J. Richardson Adam J. Richardson is a Dublin based actor who trained at The Lir Academy, Dublin.His recent television credits include ITV’s Intruder and Vikings: Valhalla for Netflix. He will be appearing in RTÉ comedy-drama The Dry this year opposite Ciarán Hinds and Roisin GallagherHis recent theatre credits include THISISPOPBABY’s Party Scene (Reflections on a ChemSex Crisis) performed at the Gate Theatre and ANU Theatre’s Staging the Treaty, where he was due to play revolutionary Harry Boland. Unfortunately, the production was postponed due to COVID.
