What happens when a sick society creates a sick body? Poetry Ireland host To Love This Body, an evening curated by Trudie Gorman showcasing three women writers who explore themes of class, gender, and the body in their work. This event will feature Trudie Gorman, Hazel Hogan and Rosaleen McDonagh, as well as special music guest Lisa Gorry.To Love This Body is the culmination of Trudie Gorman’s New Work award supported by the Arts Council’s Arts and Disability Connect scheme managed by Arts &amp; Disability Ireland.Trudie Gorman is a working-class writer whose work explores the personal and political interplay between class, gender, and the body. Trudie has performed her poetry across Ireland and the UK and has published pieces in Poetry NI, Two Metre Review and The 32: An Anthology of Irish Working-Class Voices. Her work has been broadcast on BBC Radio London. Trudie was selected for Poetry Ireland Versify Series 2019. She was also shortlisted for the Creative Future Writer’s Award 2019 and for the Norman Houston Multi-disciplinary Commissioning Award 2022. She was awarded a residency with the Centre Culturel Irlandais to take place in 2022. Trudie is working on her first poetry pamphlet.Hazel Hogan is a poet from Dublin. Her poem ‘Grangegorman’ was studied as part of the Junior Cert syllabus. Her poetry was submitted into the Irish Poetry Reading Archive as part of the UCD digital library. She’s been published in The Irish Times. She studies English Literature and Creative Writing.Dr. Rosaleen McDonagh is a Traveller woman with a disability. Originally from Sligo, she is the fourth eldest in a family of twenty children. She worked in Pavee Point Traveller &amp; Roma Centre for ten years, managing the Violence Against Women programme, and remains a board member. She is a regular contributor to the Irish Times and has written extensively within the framework of a Traveller feminist perspective. McDonagh’s work includes Mainstream, The Baby Doll Project, Stuck, She’s Not Mine, and Rings.Kildare native, Dublin-based artist Lisa Gorry is no stranger to the Irish music scene, where her combination of relatable lyrics and tender vocal tones have been honed to create an intimate performance style, as seen in her many appearances at The Ruby Sessions and her sold-out single launch show in The Workman’s Club. Gorry has sought to emulate the strong story-telling element of the scene and seeks to connect with listeners on a deeply emotional level. She is currently writing an album to be released sometime next year.This event will take place in the beautiful surrounds of Belvedere House, Dublin City University, St. Patrick&#x27;s Campus, Drumcondra, Dublin 9.Please note masks are required for admittance to this event, and guests must remain masked for the duration of the performance.
