<h2>History of the Dublin Docklands</h2><h2>Tuesday 5th April, 7pm</h2><h3>The Liffey Corner Room, CHQ Building</h3><p>Join us for a panel discussionon on the rich history, both recent &amp; past, that is the everchanging face of the Dublin Docklands.</p><p>Speakers:</p><ul><li> Niamh Moore-Cherry, Associate Professor of Social Sciences &amp; Law in the School of Geography in University College Dublin </li><li>Dr. Mary Muldowney, Dublin City Council Historian in Residence for Dublin Central</li></ul><p>Chaired by Psychotherapist &amp; Photographer, Linda Hanlon </p><p><strong>Niamh Moore-Cherry</strong> is Deputy College Principal at the UCD College of Social Sciences and Law, and an Honorary Professor at the Bartlett School of Planning, University College London. Her research is focused on cities, governance and sustainability and she leads a research group working on these topics at UCD (www.citiesgovernancesustainability.eu) . She is the author of Dublin Docklands Reinvented (Four Courts Press, 2008), has co-edited three books and has papers published in leading international journals including: Urban Studies, Land Use Policy, Planning Practice and Research, Regional Studies and European Urban and Regional Studies. Niamh is passionate about building engagement between academia, policymakers and communities to help shape more equitable and liveable places.</p><p><strong>Dr. Mary Muldowney </strong>is the Dublin City Council Historian in Residence for Dublin Central. She is the author of books and journal articles among other publications, many of them focussing on labour history in Ireland. She is currently a member of the Expert Working Group of the Grangegorman Histories Project, which is a public history programme under the auspices of the Royal Irish Academy and the Grangegorman Development Agency. Mary is directing a pilot oral history project as part of the programme. She is a member of the organising committee of the Irish Labour History Society and was recently appointed to the editorial board of Saothar, the peer reviewed journal of the Society.</p><p></p><p>This talk is organised as part of the exhibition <em>Pride of Place, Growing up in Sheriff Street</em>, 4th-9th April in the CHQ Building. </p><p><em>Pride of Place, Growing up in Sheriff Street </em>is part of The Five Lamps Arts Festival 2022.</p>
